...but I am at work, clinging desperately to the last vestiges of my lunch break, and so an update for you.

Our sort-of boss isn't in on Tuesdays, and the replacement that we get for her is also mildly incompetent, in the way most bosses are. After a busy morning there are hardly any people due in this afternoon, so that's both good - no running around like a headless chicken, as has been known in the past - and bad - it can be quite boring when they are all getting on with their work and we have nothing to do!

I have tickets for two shows, My Chemical Romance next month and the Goo Goo Dolls for November. I'm very excited. Anxiously awaiting the announcement about when the Jonas Brothers are coming, too. Hoping it doesn't conflict with GGD but if it did I would just have to go for JB. I'm pretty sure this makes me a huge saddo but nonetheless!

I am looking through rec lists atm because while I'm waiting for J to appear for her appointment, there is really nothing else to do.

Today is pay day. I am going to celebrate, either tonight or tomorrow, by going online and ordering the gorgeous printed packing tape I've been ogling.

I send a lot of mail, okay.

The purpose of this post is twofold.

Point one (1): I have a new fandom journal for all non-Harry Potter fandom. It is miss_odalisque. There is only nude Kevin Jonas fanart on it at the moment (Um, NOT my own), but there will eventually be more. If you are a wizard friend, and value your sanity, STAY HERE. I will kick you links to any Star Trek action happening over there. Spare yourself the naked Jonaii.

Point two (2): I just got my computer tower back after EIGHT DAYS without it. While I was happy before going online on my phone, I cannot even begin to relate the horror that is the continual thought of "Oh, I'll look it up tonight" and then realising you can't. With like, java-heavy sites and whatnot. UNGHFDJNSFBDS. It was horrendous. I couldn't book train tickets, I couldn't shop on Amazon (I KNOW. IT WAS THE WORST THING.) My battery died because I had to look at porn on my phone. ON MY PHONE. (I'm mostly kidding. I didn't watch porn. I read a LOT of fanfic, though.)

This isn't about fandom. Or even my life. And I know I've been neglecting LJ in favour of...um...sleep. Yeah, I can't feel bad about that. My sleep schedule is WAY off right now and I still haven't started my dissertation. It's due in MARCH. This is why I'm not going to grad school.

Ahem. Anyway. I just read this article that came up when I logged into Yahoo, and I had to share it with you. It made me really upset.

The Snow Ball is being held on Friday in Edinburgh and I'm VERY excited about it. If I keep feeling like I am right now I will be VERY fun this weekend. And I like being fun :) I told Gary that earlier and he was like "What do you mean, fun?" and I couldn't exactly define it. But, you know. Fun. *shrug* XD

I get to meet Oli's fiance Janae for the first time, about which I am also very excited. And I get to see David again! I don't think you understand the hype that comes up before seeing David. EVERY time we saw each other at Wrockstock we had to hug. Multiple times. Going from seeing him like five times in a five month period and then only in March and not again until NOVEMBER did NOT work for me. And he's GOING AWAY. He's moving to America in September! I am NOT HAPPY. Well, actually, I'm very happy that he's marrying Justine, because she is adorable and if there is anyone joining our UK fandom family, I'm super glad it's someone as awesome as her. But I'm going to miss him!!

If James moves away any time soon I may have to cut a bitch. Jsyk.

I'm wondering whether or not I should write a Wrockstock summary. Much of it involved being illegally drunk and some other questionable things so I don't even know if I should do it and just heavily filter it or actually do a 'harmless' one and a more bare-all one. Or if I should do one at all, though I keep wanting to make references and nobody gets them because I didn't explain them in a note anywhere XD My last year's summary was like 16 pages long, no lie. This one would be shorter. I promise :-P

Anyway. I've been wearing the shirts I got at Wrockstock and that's keeping me very happy right now. Also my Old Navy pyjama pants are boss and comfy and I love them.

I am getting my hair cut on Thursday for the first time since I went to America (so like, 4th June or so) and this is very exciting. However, my hairdresser intimidates the hell out of me so it probably won't be what I want, again. Sigh.

I am knee-deep in AU, RPF, slash fiction. With ICE SKATING. Instead of working on my sodamnskippy fic exchange story. *facepalm* I can't even help it. The plot bunny REFUSED TO LEAVE ME ALONE. So now I'm writing a story with Kevin and Mike and ICE SKATING. I blame skoosiepants and also the JB/BoB crossover where Joe and Luz are competing in American Idol with a bunch of Disney kids, okay???

Oooh, also, on Friday I get to go visit the BBC at Pacific Quay in Glasgow before I go to Edinburgh! That's ALSO exciting!!!!

Man, everything is happening at once. And I'm SUPPOSED to be working on my dissertation. Goodness knows THAT isn't happening. I really need to knuckle down over the break. At least I have questionnaire responses to work from, too.

Finally, Formspring is also taking over my life (um, and my Twitter). People are getting pissed so I gotta turn off automatic-tweeting of answers XD but answering questions about yourself from anonymous people? yeah, it's totally addictive. Web developers know our weaknesses!!!

The Christmas Wishlist Meme:

Step 1:

Make a post (public, friend-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. Then, post should contain your list of 10 unlimited holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact information in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step 2:

Surf around your friend-list (or friends' f-list, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use ー or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free ー do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf ー to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not ー it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

THE LIST:

1) More love in the world. I had this last year and it's making a return. TELL SOMEONE YOU LOVE THEM. That's an amazing present <3

2) Pop-Tarts. Mail me a box of brown sugar and cinnamon Pop-Tarts, because I can't get them here, and that gives me the SAD. I got hooked on them when I stayed with rowenamarion</lj> this summer. I have almost eaten all the ones I brought back from Wrockstock with me.

3)SNAIL MAIL / Christmas / Holiday cards. I adore getting mail. Like, A LOT. I am such a stationery geek too. So just...yeah. MAIL. I will love you a lot.

4) A mix CD. Because I adore music and finding new bands and...I love a lot of different kinds of music. Even metal on occasion though I am yet to find a love for Metallica. Or a lot of classical/jazz.

5) A Kevin Jonas icon. Or a Mike Carden icon. Actually, what I would like would be BOTH of them in the SAME icon. So I have something to use when I comment over at sodamnskippy</lj> that isn't Harry Potter themed or just random. But either would be fine.

6) Socks. Stripy socks. One-size-fits-all usually fits me. (even in knee- or thigh-highs. It's only tights that are a problem, because I am a shortarse and therefore they're always too long and saggy. ERGH). I love socks, a LOT, especially stripy ones. Especially socks from Target. Gosh I love Target. If someone could send me a Target store for Christmas... XDDDD

7) Jonas Brothers crap. Michelle gave me a JB notebook while I was in STL. Posters, notebooks, pencils, Camp Rock merch...I am obsessed and don't mind what the heck it is. It just makes me very happy to have stuff like that. Or Harry Potter crap. Or High School Musical crap, but mostly HP or JB.

8) I would love fanfic. I don't think anyone who writes in any of my fandoms is ever going to read this (except maybe HP, but people on my flist etc. don't like writing H/D I don't think. Or AS/S. So...boo.) but I may as well list it. If you can even rec me some fics you loved in any of my fandoms that would be awesome (PLEASE NO HP CANON. It kills me a little).

9) Write on a piece of card or paper why (um, if XD) you think I'm awesome and mail it to me. I would like to put it on my door. Because sometimes I feel sad and I just want to be reminded that people love me. </ cheerupemokid>

10) Give my dad a job? Please?

Nick Jonas is recording a side project without his brothers, called Nick Jonas and the Administration.

There are no words. There is only high-pitched squealing.

So I've been here in the US for two weeks and I've entered into multiple new fandoms and it's kind of scaring me XD I mean I got into Harry Potter in 2001, my next fandom (High School Musical) didn't come til 2008 and now Jonas Brothers at the start of this year. But suddenly, 136daysafter and friend Michelle are getting me to watch Supernatural, and D and I are watching True Blood, and I've been watching Wizards of Waverly Place on the Disney Channel because, face it, even HAVING the Disney Channel is a freaking novelty.

But it means that now half my time is spent watching TV. Which I guess is fun, because I'm watching it WITH people. Going "OH MY GOD SHE'S POSSESSED!" and laughing with D and M, which is great, because I've never done that before.

Anyway. So D and I just got done with Season 3 Disc 2 tonight and my tweet immediately afterwards said this: "Just finished Season 3, Disc 2 of Supernatural. What the eff is Bella's problem? Why are all Bellas so annoying? At least Gordon's dead..."

I really think that sums it up.

Also, I set up an iTunes account for the US store. I'm hoping to purchase Dollhouse and download it at the college campus where D goes to school, since she has dialup at home which is not conducive to even looking at pictures on Facebook, let alone downloading video.

I'll keep you updated fandom-wise - after all, this is my fandom journal - as much as possible. Which will probably be more often than usual because I don't use Skype or any IM any more, really. I spend a lot of time on LJ, the only thing is that it's not posting anything of my own, it's reading fanfics. I have WRITTEN a couple, but I'm still kind of too chicken to post them. At least D doesn't check up on my browser history and get judgmental XDDD Yay.
